5 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD STUDY OUT

Study out is the term used by students who'd rather go out and study in coffeshops, study cafes or school library rather than staying inside there room. Well, we do all have our own way in being productive when it comes to studying. There are some who prefer to stay inside because it is cheaper and you can memorize your notes without disturbing the next table. And there are some who feel that if they go study out, there is progress in reading.

In my case, I do this when major or shifting exams are coming because I am such a sleepy head. More then 50% of my time in my room is spent by washing the dishes, sweeping the floor or arranging my things.

So here are 5 reasons I listed why you should study out.

1. It gives you the reason not to sleep.

This depends whether you are in a group or alone. If you are in a group, you could always ask your classmate to wake you up after 10 minutes or 15 minutes. They could also look after your things while you are napping and when you wake up, you are still facing your hand outs. Unlike if you are in your room, you tend to lie down and the next time you'll know you will be greeting the sunrise. But if you are alone, wouldn't it be awkward to sleep in a coffee shop full of strangers?

2. It is very expensive.

How much does one grande of coffee costs? 120-150 pesos? No matter what's the range, it is still expensive. This will give you the reason not to go home after you've lost your attention span when you are studying because the time you spent in a fancy coffeeshop will be wasted.

3. Slow internet connection.

Most of the coffee shops I have been has a slow internet connection which is a big advantage when you study out. You'll spend less in social media and you got no choice but to continue on making notes and studying. Not unless if you have a fast mobile data in your phone. But hey! You spent more than a hundred-peso coffee and you'll just do facebook? Nah-uh. Go face your book.

4. It is not boring.

If you are already burned out, you will just take a break by observing people around you. Haha. You'll be entertained on who wears good and who weares so-so. Or you could just stare at the beautiful interior of the coffee shop and appreciate it silently.

5. Because you have to.

There is no time to waste! You have to finish that 10 chapters for the shifting exam. You have to get your written reports done as soon as possible. You have to be productive and at the same time stay alive all through out. Because you are already cramming!

How about you? Which do you prefer? Study out or stay at home?

  1. Nice tips! Despite all that, we still tend to get distracted. And there are now study cafés with high-speed internet so good luck with that. Haha

  2. Everyday I'm usually in a coffee shop, to the point that the baristas know me, my fave drink. Haha And I do agree with you that I have a lot of progress when it comes to working on school related things than doing it at home. I have this thing that "I shouldn't take work with me at home"

  3. It's nice to have a change in environment from time to time. Back in college, I preferred studying in my room whenever there's a major exam because when I'd study out, for sure my friends and I would end up talking the entire night haha. Usually we would go to a quiet McDonald's but turned out we were only fooling ourselves. We never really studied. We just ate too mcuh fries and chitchatted until we're ready to go home. Lol

  4. Oh, how I wish I had study habits cause this would have been perfect back in college. Studying out is kind of a thing now although I prefer studying in my room as I have quite the appetite for reading and solving when my brain is itchy. Else, I sleep (transform those short term memory again to long term).

If I studied in cafe's it would be that I would be solving equations or open discussions as they tend to be a little bit loud especially when it's crowded. I would not recommend it for when reading.

  5. Definitely agree with those points. I remember being a student and being able to study more effectively when I'm out rather than being in my room where the temptation to take a nap is much stronger. Hahaha. Still though, discipline is the bigger matter and is what one should take with them anywhere! :)

  7. The funny thing about Number 2 is that I also go to coffee shops if I need to get some work done. Puslan man nga mahal kaayo ang food, might as well finish everything there, right? Haha.

  8. I literally laughed out when you said it is expensive! It's like bribering your own self. Haha pay high to buy a drink and study because you don't want to waste that expense. Lol! Anyway, I never went to coffee shops when I was studying before so I really couldn't relate. However, these reasons are great and compelling to study out. Cool!

  13. I didn't study in coffee shops when I was in college, but I did study out. A change in environment really helped me especially those times when we only had 1-2 hours sleep every night because of projects and demanding minor subjects haahahaha... Well, nice tips you have there, this would be a great motivator to those who study in coffee shops... :)
